Niki Sanders es una antigua trabajadora de un casino en Las Vegas. Ella se encarga de su hijo, Micah, sola debido a que su esposo D.L. es un fugitivo. Historia del personaje
Primera Temporada
Luego de terminar un trabajo, Niki recoge a Micah de la escuela. Cuando unos matones entran, ella escapa con Micah. Ella habla con el director de Micah acerca de su problema. Cuando ella se estaba llendo, ella ve a su reflejo actuando de un modo extraño. Niki lleva a Micah a la casa de Tina y vuelve a su hogar. Ella se encuentra con los matones de antes, quienes la golpean. Cuando ella despierta, ellos habían sido asesinados. En su camin para recoger a Micah, ella pierde una gran cantidad de horas sin recordar nada. Cuando ella vuelve a su casa encuentra un Cadillac con los cuerpos de los matones. Ella se va con Micah al desierto para enterrarlos. Luego de acabar ambos van hacia la casa de la abuela de Micah. Lego de que ellos se van, Niki es detenida por más hombres de Linderman.
Niki entonces conoce a la Srta. Sakamoto. Las dos hablan sobre que Linderman olvidaría su deuda si ella seducía a un politico. She drops Micah off and returns to the casino running into the man she is to seduce. She does not go through with the deal, but when she is assaulted by one of Linderman's lackeys she reverts to her alter ego, threatens the man and sleeps with Nathan. The morning after, Miss Sakamoto tells Niki she is now debt free. When she returns home, she finds the police looking for her husband. When they leave, he arrives and the two argue. When Niki switches back to Jessica, she reveals that is was she that stole Linderman's money. D.L. catches up to her, and the two fight until D.L. knocks her out by phasing into her abdomen. When she awakens D.L. and Micah are gone, and Tina comes to let her know what has happened. Angered, Jessica takes over again, determined to find D.L.. She finds them at a cabin in Utah. When she struggles with D.L., she forcefully pushes Micah aside, allowing Niki to regain control. She decides to turn herself in for murder.
Dos semanas despues, she is in jail esperando por su juicio. Debido a la violencia de Jessica, Niki es puesta en una celda acolchonada. A psychiatrist llega esperando ver a Niki. Cuando ella vuelve a tomar el control, ella se pone en contactoi con Nathan, y le cuenta acerca de los planes que tiene Lindermanplans and then asks him to knock her out. He happily obliges. Niki convinces Jessica that she need to save Micah with D.L.'s help. When the two find Linderman, he offers Jessica millions of dollars if she kills D.L.. Not having any of this, Niki regains control and embraces D.L.. When Linderman shoots at Niki, D.L. takes the bullet, and then kills Linderman.
Niki supports a weakened D.L.. When a loud bang is heard, the two phase through a wall. D.L. tells her that she needs to go on her own if she is to rescue Micah. She leaves him and finds Jessica and a dead Micah in a room. The two fight, and when she looks in a reflection, Jessica tells her that the Jessica she is fighting isn't actually her. Niki punches the impostor across the room. Niki rescues Micah and when she looks into a mirror sees only her own reflection. When they go back to D.L., they find Mohinder and Molly. The group goes down to Kirby Plaza thanks to Micah. Outside, Peter and Sylar are fighting. Niki grabs Sylar's parking meter and beats him with it. She then returns to her family to watch the explosion.
Kindred
Niki y Micah estan discutiendo mientras dejan Las Vegas. Micah no se quiere ir; pero Niki le dice que necesitan estar un tiempo fuera. Ambos visitan la tumba de D.L. antes de partir.
Mas tarde, Niki y Micah toman un taxi , y halan sobre su futuro. Niki le dice a Micah que él al fin iba a estar con gente "normal", y que el no debe de usar su habilidad. Niki toca a la puerta, y Nana les da la bienvenida a New Orleans.
Niki llama a Bob y le dice que ella lo esta esperando. Ella le pregunta si es que él esta seguro de poder curarla, y Bob le asegura que ella puede ser curada; pero que debia pagar ese favor.
Fight or Flight
Mientras Mohinder y Bob discutian acerca de Molly Walker en una isntalacion de La Compañia, Niki escapa de su celda, haciendose paso por entre los guardias que querian contenerla. Ella llega hasta donde estan Mohinder y Bob, Mohinder lareconoce inmediatamente. Niki no loreconoce y lo arroja contra una puerta. Entonces ella va donde Bob y lo sujeta por su cuello tratando de estrangularlo. Antes de que esto sucediera, Mohinder ledispara una pistola electrica, dejandola inconsciente.
Despues, Niki vuelve a la normalidad,y es confinada a su cama. Bob y Mohinder la acompañan, con Bob asegurandole que Nikkiiba a ser curada de su Trastorno de Personalidad Multiple, en cuanto Bob se va, Mohinder trata de liberarla; pero Nikki le dice que se detenga, explicandole que ella estaba ahi por su propia voluntad,y que dejando a su hijo, ella pidíó ayuda a La Compañia.
La Linea
En el hospital de la Compañia, Mohinder es saludado por Niki, quien le dice que ella se siente mucho mejor, y que ella es su nueva compañera. Ella explica que Bob y Mohinder tienen problemas de confianza, y que ella esta ahi para asegurarse que no haya ningun malentendido.
Out of Time
Niki, Bob y Mohinder discuten sobre si inyectarle o no el virus a Maury. Mohinder se niega pero Niki insiste en que ninguno va a morir y que la Compañía es buena. Niki sufre de unas visiones sobre D.L., provocadas por Maury quien manipulaba su mente con su telepatía. Niki ve otra visión de D.L., quien la convence de matar a Bob. Niki entonces golpea a Mohinder cuando este trataba de ayudarla. Luego, Niki golea la puerta y la derriba, en ese momento debido a que no podía luchar contra el poder de Maury, ella se inyecta el virus. Más tarde Mohinder trata de darle una infusión de su sangre para curala, pero no funciona.
Four Months Ago...
Niki conoce a Bob y se le recetan píldoras para prevenir que se convierta en Jessica otra vez. Aún así, frustrada por el efécto secundario de las píldoras, la depresión, Niki tira las píldoras en el baño y se convierte en otro alter-ego, Gina.
Gina viaja a Los Angeles y comienza a consumir y a bailar con un hombre. D.L. la encuentra luego de haber encontrado un espejo escrito y asumiendo que había sido Jessica. Cuando e se enfrenta a ella, ella le responde "Adivina de nuevo". Él le muestra la fotografía de su familia y Niki regresa. El otro hombre con el que estaba trata de golpear a D.L. solo que este atraviesa su cabeza. Luego de unos momentos, el hombre dispara a D.L. en el pecho y muere. Niki asiste a su funeral una semana después.
En el presente, Niki deja el hospital de la Compañía.
Truth & Consequences
Niki va a el Hogar de los Dawsons para visitar a Micah. Niki y Micah hablan, y Niki le explica que ella había ido a un lugar que ayudaba a gente que estaba enferma. She tells Micah she has a virus, but she can't spread it, and that Dr. Suresh is looking for a cure. Micah asks what would happen if Dr. Suresh can't find a cure, but Niki insists that he will. Micah tells her he has something that will make her stronger in his backpack, D.L.'s medal, but he discovers that his backpack is missing.
After Micah tackles and punches Damon for losing his backpack to a gang, Niki pulls him off. When Micah insists that they need to get it themselves, Niki tells him that they shouldn't because that is the reason D.L. is dead.
Niki receives a call from Mohinder that he found a cure for the virus. When Niki goes to Micah's bedroom to tell Micah of the good news, she discovers that he is gone.
Powerless
Micah regresa a el Hogar de los Dawsons donde Niki lo esperaba muy preocupada. Este le cuenta que Monica estaba en peligro y que ellos tenían que rescatarla. Niki le cuenta que ella no podía ya que el Virus Shanti había suprimido sus poderes, pero Micah la convence de que ellos aún podían tener éxito. Monica escapa sin Niki antes de que el edifício explote.
Powers
Niki posee super fuerza. Por meses, ella solo podia usar su poder con su personalidad alternativa, Jessica, quien es mucho mas violenta que ella, generalmente. Jessica ha usado su poder en una gran variedad de crimenes desde robos hasta asesinatos brutales.
Niki tal vez inicialmente halla demostrado su fuerza sin la ayuda de Jessica cuando rompió en dos un baston de un guardia de la prision en la que ella estaba. (Godsend) En How to Stop an Exploding Man, Niki finalmente aprende a usar su super fuerza.

- Niki y Hal use more formal names for each other: Niki calls her father "Hal", and Hal calls his daughter "Nicole".
- Niki is on the list.
- Niki and Jessica can communicate with each other through reflective surfaces: whichever personality is dominant sees the alternate in the reflection. However, Matt Parkman heard thoughts of both personalities via his telepathy during one of their conversations (Run!). Niki and Jessica also communicated in jail sans reflective surface (Godsend). The significance of these unusual occurrences is unknown.
- According to the cast commentary about Godsend featured on the Heroes NBC.com website, the cast members themselves believe that it was Niki -- not Jessica -- who broke the guard's baton. However, during the Wizard World Los Angeles panel, the writers entertained the possibility that Niki might "eventually" be able to access Jessica's power, indicating they believed she hadn't done so yet.

- Niki never keeps peanut butter in the refrigerator. (Godsend)
- The ABC Soap Opera One Life to Live is famous for being one of the first serialized dramas to tackle the topic of dissociative identity disorder (DID) in a real and serious way with a beloved lead character. That character was Victoria Lord (Viki), whose most active and dominate alter ego was named Niki. She also had a daughter who, through Niki's carelessness, was traumatized as a child and likewise developed DID. Her name was Jessica, and her main alter ego was named Tess.
- According to a form found in Linderman's archives, Niki was born in a city that ends with "eles", probably Los Angeles. Her social security number is 2574-87-5698. (The Hard Part)
- A 2001 medical form for Niki has an address listed at the top: 348 South 4th Street, Portland, Oregon, 97209. It is unclear whether this was once Niki's address or whether this is the address of the form's originator. The medical form also lists Niki's age as 33. According to NBC's press packet, Niki would have been 28 in 2001.
